Take A Vacation With Elvis’ Blue Hawaii
Blue Hawaii; Elvis’s 8th movie, is an entertaining, fun-filled romp set in beautiful Hawaii. Elvis plays Chad Gates, a rich kid just out of the army. His parents want him to go to work at their fruit company, but he wants to try out his wings. He chooses to work as a tour guide at his girlfriend’s agency. It was Elvis’s third highest grossing movie making roughly 34.5 million. Of course, an Elvis movie wouldn’t be an Elvis movie without plenty of good tunes. The soundtrack was the 1 overall album of 1961 spending 20 consecutive weeks at 1. It gave us the beautiful “Can’t Help Falling In Love”.
I personally think that critics were too hard on Elvis’s movies. His movies were pretty good, and his acting wasn’t bad at all. I would rather watch one of his movies than 75 of the movies put out today. A few of my personal favorites are “Roustabout” and “Kid Galahad”. The same is true about his music. It is incomparable. They will be playing his songs long after many of today’s artists have been forgotten.
Elvis will always be “The King” and deservedly so. There will never be another like him.
